DM Salon Collective has an abundance of natural light and indoor greenery. The more natural light, the less reliant on energy sources we need to be. Our 'salon garden' helps remove toxins and pollutants from the air that are created from salon chemicals, making it a much healthier and happier place for everyone that visits.
Our partners, Sustainnable Salons help us divert salon waste.
Hair is one of the most underestimated renewable resources - it is organic matter meaning it can be used in many ways.
Here's a few wasy Sustainable Salons reuses the hair clippings from our salon.
Hair booms are made to soak up oil spills and one hair boom can soak up to 4L of oil in our Australian waterways.
Hair is added to fertiliser and supercharges the soil with it's amino acids, nitrogen, calcium and iron
Plastics are given a new life and turned into usuable everyday products. The plastics taken from our salon are washed, shredded and molded into dog leashes, eyewear, coasters, plant pots, combs and toothbrush holders.

Paper is shredded and turned back into paper products, and can be recycled over and over. All paper products from our salon go through a grade, sort, shred and bale process before being sent to a paper mill.
Foil is infinitely recyclable. And, there's enough foil already in the world to not need to produce new foil. Our foil (along with other metals) is collected and turned into metal products, tubes and foil...and thanks to it's recycled value, can be sold for 20c to 90c per kilo. For every $1 collected, OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest can feed two homeless people.
